![]() Check the manufacturer’s specifications to find out how fast and how far you can drive on your run flat tires. You can’t drive on them indefinitely, though. Run flat tires are tires on which you can continue driving after a puncture so you can take time get to an auto shop or find a safe, level area to change your tire. With some auto manufacturers making them standard in new vehicles, more consumers are asking about run flats, their advantages, and how using them impacts driving. ![]() Cheaper than a new tire.Though they first appeared in the mid-1980s, run flat tires (RFT) are now more popular than ever. If the damage is in the sidewall, no it can't safely be repaired but anywhere else in the tire, around the tread etc, it can be repaired. Drove on that tire for 7 months with zero issues before getting a different car. Went to an indie tire shop (don't bother or waste your time with the big box stores) and the pulled the screw out, patched the tire and I was on my way. I had a huge screw in my tire on my last car which had Pirelli P7 summer performance tires. This is a myth, perpetuated by BMW and namely, BMW dealers that want you to buy a new Run flat tire from them at the highest price imaginable. A repaired RFT will not give you the same peace of mind as a new tire. The statistical risk of another flat is higher with a repaired RFT then getting a new one that will definitely give you peace of mind. If you do get someone to repair it, you will always be worrying if its gonna hold it will always be on your mind. I believe that I read somewhere that RFT can not be repaired safely, as BMW will not repair them, and many advises not to repair them and to replace them is safer I would just get new tire to play it safe.
